REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES
OFFICE OF THE CITY MAYOR
CITY OF SAN PABLO
MESSAGE
The passage of Republic Act 10066 or the Heritage Act of 2009 enjoins every Filipino to treasure its culture and heritage as well as to protect, conserve, develop and promote these treasures. Corollary to this, the City government of San Pablo passed the City Ordinance No. 2018-53, ”Creating the City of San Pablo Heritage Zone and Historical Sites, Declaring the San Pablo City Heritage Month and Providing Funds Thereof.”
This city ordinance identified our city heritage zone inclusive of the City Cathedral down to the whole stretch of Rizal Avenue inclusive of the heritage building and sites, government and privately owned and historical sites outside the heritage zone. Through the initiative of former Senator Loren Legarda, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) partially restored all government properties inside and outside the heritage zone including historical monuments in the city.
I deem it our duty as one community to continue to protect and preserve, to develop and promote these cultural and heritage treasures. With this document, the Heritage Conservation Principles and Guidelines, we will be guided on how to push through with the sustainable development of our city heritage zone.
All these efforts and accomplishments are our legacy for the citizens of San Pablo City now, and for the future generations.
LORETO S. AMANTE
City Mayor
