Heritage mapping is a research technique that emanates from valorization to utilization of meaningful resources of man. It creates awareness of the distinct cultural resources of the community vis a vis another community that ingrain pride and identity. It highlights shared histories and narratives that reinforces community cohesion. It serves as the well spring of knowledge and information of people, places, skills and other curiosities for appreciation and inspiration of the community. It provides the baseline information for other developmental activities of functional disciplines such as education, tourism, creative industries, infrastructure, peace and security and other avenues of cultural utilization.
